MESSAGE FROM NJIDEKA:
My heart has been touched deeply by the financial contributions we are receiving in support of Focus On Healing sending me to "Njideka" to the Adult Wellness Conference in China.

In the previous newsletters you have received information about the trip and my selection as a delegate to represent America and Reflexology. I want to take a moment to share the importance of my selection as a delegate to personally represent you. Many of you reading this newsletter our paths came together because you,

  • have received Reflexology services
  • attended a Reflexology workshop or class
  • received Reflexology certification training
  • received a Reflexology sampling at an expo or health fair
  • are a healthcare colleague or business associate
  • one of my extended family members

It is through these offerings and opportunities that have put my name on the map as a leader and pioneer in Reflexology. This has happened only because of you and your support and belief in my work and me. It is for this reason that I, "Njideka", am honored to have been asked to represent "you" as a delegate to China to attend the conference on Aging Healthy. This is a historical opportunity for me, "Njideka", to be the first African America, woman and Reflexologist to represent American and Reflexology in China. It is you and I together making history happen.

My attendance at the conference will allow me to gather information and personally bring it back to you and the community. The exchange of information, sharing ideas and learning new skills and techniques will lay the foundation for you and I to work together in designing a much needed wellness program and services that will enable us to focus on Aging Healthy.

Many of you know about me, "Njideka", the practitioner. There is a business side of me, which is Focus On Healing, Inc., a nonprofit education and research organization on a mission to train, document and educate the community in prevention and wellness approaches in health care. FOH is a 501(c) 3 organization, which allows us to accept donations that entitles you to a tax write off at the end of the year.

This fundraising drive is our first big drive for a cause. In the past, all FOH projects and programs have been funded by family ,close friends and myself. FOH's big major project was the publishing of Reflexology Today: A Family Affair, which is the funding source for our FOH H.E.L.P. Youth Training Program that provides scholarships for youth ages 13-17. This program allows us to train the next generation of health care practitioners in the field of Reflexology. FOH's youth training program is of interest to the Reflexology leaders in China, where we will discuss the development of a Reflexology youth exchange-training program.

The financial contributions that we have receive in such a short time span has been outstanding. The fact that we were late in starting our fundraising drive to raise $9600 to send two people to China we have decided that it is best to send one person. Our goal is to raise $4800. To date we have received a total of $1,800. We have a balance of $3000 we need to raise by October 22, 1999. "Seek and Ye shall find, Knock and the door shall be open, Ask and Ye shall receive"… Working together we can raise the needed funds.

Make your checks payable to Focus On Healing, P.O. Box 26132 Washington, D.C. 20001. For more information call (301) 779-8005 Press # 3.

Thank You for your support and generous contribution.

Sincerely,
Njideka N. Olatunde, Ph.D.
